After spending some time in Europe, I came to appreciate the German style beers, and while I have no favorites, I often found myself looking for particular varieties that are hard to get anywhere else. About 15 years ago, I decided to experiment with brewing beer and ended up with several recipes that I found myself making repeatedly. What started out as a hobby and personal adventure to satisfy my palate soon saw friends and family join me for regular tastings. My focus is on drinkability and recipes that are less frequently found in restaurants and bars. My favorites include Pilsners, Dunkelweizen, Belgian Wheat, and Hefeweizen.
